Candidate Satisfaction Score (cNPS)

Candidate Satisfaction Score (cNPS) is a metric used to measure the quality of the Candidate Experience. It reflects candidates’ overall impression of their interactions with the company throughout the hiring process, regardless of whether they ultimately received a job offer.

Formula

cNPS = % Promoters (score 9–10) – % Detractors (score 0–6)

How to Calculate

  • Send candidates an anonymous survey after the hiring process is complete, asking: “On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely are you to recommend applying for jobs at our company to your colleagues?”
  • Divide the responses into three groups: Promoters (9–10), Passives (7–8), and Detractors (0–6).
  • Subtract the percentage of Detractors from the percentage of Promoters to calculate the cNPS score, which ranges from -100 to +100.

Benchmark

  • cNPS for hired candidates: > +70.
  • Overall cNPS (including rejected candidates): > +30 to +50.

How to Improve

  • Always provide detailed, constructive feedback, even when rejecting a candidate.
  • Reduce and optimize response times at every stage of the hiring process.
  • Make sure technical interviewers follow professional and respectful interviewing practices.
