Offer Acceptance Rate

Offer Acceptance Rate (OAR) is the percentage of candidates who accept an official job offer out of the total number of offers extended during a given period.

Formula

Offer Acceptance Rate

How to Calculate

  • Count the total number of job offers extended to candidates during the period.
  • Count the number of written or verbal acceptances (“yes”) received from candidates.
  • Divide the number of accepted offers by the total number of offers extended and multiply by 100%.

Benchmark

  • Overall market: 80–90%.
  • Highly competitive fields (IT, Senior / Lead roles): 65–75%.

How to Improve

  • Hold pre-offer conversations to discuss the candidate’s expectations before sending the formal offer.
  • Make competitive salary offers based on current market salary ranges.
  • Reduce Time to Hire — candidates often receive competing offers from companies that move faster.
